- 12-Hydroxy Stearic Acid is the mixed fatty acid obtained by hydrolysis of Hydrogenated
Castor Oil. It is high melting, brittle, waxy solid at ambient temperatures. It should be stored
away from heat to avoid deterioration. It is insoluble in water and it's solubility in many
organic solvents is also limited. It is a non-toxic, non-hazardous material.

- In the manufacture of multipurpose Lithium and Calcium glycerin free greases

• 특징
- Hydrogenated Castor Oil (HCO), also called Castor Wax, is a hard, brittle, high melting solid
which is tasteless and odourless. Chemically it is the triglyceride mainly of 12-Hydroxy Stearic
Acid. It is insoluble in water and solubility in many organic solvents is also very limited. It is
produced by adding hydrogen in the presence of a nickel catalyst.
• 용도 및 적용분야
- HCO is available as flakes or powder which melts to a clear transparent liquid. It is a non-toxic,
non-hazardous material. Its white flakes are extremely insoluble and are water resistant. It is
mainly used for coatings and greases where resistance to moisture, oils and other
petrochemical products is required.

- It is a mixture of various fatty acids, mostly the hydroxy fatty acid to the extent of about 87-89%,
viscous yellowish amber color liquid, melting at 5.5 oC. Sometimes the heavy fatty acids may
solidify even at higher temperatures giving a cloudy look to the liquid. It is insoluble in water
but soluble in most organic solvents. It is prepared by the hydrolysis of Castor Oil.
